Dooars
The Dooars, also known as Duars, is a region in India located at the foothills of the eastern Himalayas in North-East India. The name "Dooars" is derived from the word "doors" as the region serves as a gateway to Bhutan from India. This picturesque region is known for its lush green forests, tea gardens, rich biodiversity, and vibrant culture.
The Dooars region spans across the districts of Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar in the state of West Bengal, as well as parts of Assam. It stretches from the Teesta River in the west to the Sankosh River in the east, encompassing the foothills of the Himalayas and extending to the Brahmaputra plains.
The Dooars region is home to a diverse population, including indigenous tribes such as the Toto, Rabha, Mech, and Rajbanshi. The cultural fabric is enriched by the blend of various ethnic communities, each with its own traditions, festivals, and lifestyles.
✔️ Transportation – Pickup and drop from NJP (New Jalpaiguri) Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport, as well as local sightseeing by private vehicle. ✔️ Sightseeing – Visit to popular tourist spots in Dooars, including Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary, Gorumara National Park, Buxa Tiger Reserve, and the surrounding areas. ✔️ Guide Services – Experienced local guides for sightseeing and wildlife safaris. ✔️ Safari Entry Fees – Charges for wildlife safaris in the national parks and sanctuaries. ✔️ Permit Fees – Any necessary permits for visiting wildlife sanctuaries and national parks. ✔️ Bonfire / Cultural Program – Cultural programs and a bonfire evening (if available at the resort). ✔️ First Aid – Basic first-aid services and emergency assistance.
❌ Train/Flight Fare – Travel expenses to and from Siliguri or Bagdogra (train or flight charges are not included). ❌ Personal Expenses – Snacks, beverages, souvenirs, laundry, and any other personal items. ❌ Tips & Gratuities – Tips for guides, drivers, and hotel staff. ❌ Travel Insurance – Personal travel insurance, which is recommended for safety and emergency purposes. ❌ Camera Fees – Extra charges for cameras or video recording at wildlife parks and sanctuaries. ❌ Alcoholic Beverages – Alcoholic drinks are not included in the package unless otherwise specified. ❌ Optional Activities – Any additional activities not mentioned in the itinerary (such as river rafting, additional safaris, etc.). ❌ Emergency Evacuation – Costs for any emergency medical evacuation (if needed).
