Itinerary

DAY 1

Day 1: Arrival in Kochi – Transfer to Munroe Island

  • Morning: Arrive at Kochi (Cochin) and transfer to Munroe Island (2.5-hour drive).

  • Afternoon: Check-in to your riverside heritage homestay on the island. Explore the local village and immerse in the tranquil atmosphere.

  • Evening: Take a leisurely walk or enjoy a traditional Kerala boat ride around the island. Relax and enjoy dinner.

  • Overnight: Stay at the heritage homestay in Munroe Island.

DAY 2

Day 2: Explore Munroe Island – Transfer to Kumarakom
Morning: After breakfast, explore Munroe Island, located at the confluence of the Vembanad Lake and the Ashtamudi Lake. Learn about its unique history, culture, and the traditional way of life. Afternoon: Visit the local temple, Cochin Dhanwanthari Ayurveda, and indulge in a spice garden tour to learn how spices like cardamom, pepper, and vanilla are grown. Evening: Transfer to Kumarakom (1.5 hrs drive), another serene backwater town, and check into your backwater resort. Overnight: Stay at a peaceful resort in Kumarakom.
DAY 3

Day 3: Discover Kumarakom – Punnappra Village
Morning: After breakfast, explore Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and take a boat ride around Vembanad Lake to spot migratory birds and enjoy the tranquil setting. Afternoon: Visit Punnappra Village, a quaint rural village offering an authentic glimpse into Keralas village life. Opt for a village walk or cycle tour, where you’ll learn about the farming culture, local traditions, and enjoy the scenic rural landscapes. DAY 4

Day 4: Houseboat Cruise in Alleppey Backwaters
Morning: Check out from the resort and drive to Alleppey (approx. 1.5 hrs). Afternoon: Board your private houseboat for a 4-5 hour cruise through the Alleppey backwaters. Experience the beauty of Kerala’s famous backwaters, passing by lush paddy fields, small islands, local villages, and scenic landscapes. Enjoy a delicious Kerala-style lunch onboard. Evening: After the cruise, disembark and transfer back to Alleppey town for a relaxed evening. Overnight: Stay at a local heritage homestay or backwater resort in Alleppey.
DAY 5

Day 5: Visit Kuttanadu – Departure from Kochi
Morning: After breakfast, visit the Kuttanadu region, also known as the Venice of the East, famous for its vast paddy fields and backwater canals. Experience local farming methods, including the unique practice of farming below sea level. Afternoon: Transfer back to Kochi (approximately 2 hours drive). You can take a quick tour of Fort Kochi, visit the Chinese Fishing Nets, or explore the local markets for souvenirs. Evening: Drop off at Kochi Airport/Train Station for your onward journey.
