Itinerary

DAY 1

Day 1: Arrival in Leh

Arrival in Leh: Arrive at Leh Airport, where you’ll be greeted by the trek organizers and transferred to your hotel.
Acclimatization: Spend the day resting and acclimatizing to the high-altitude environment. Leh is located at 11,500 feet above sea level, so it is crucial to allow your body time to adjust.
Overnight Stay: Stay overnight in Leh.

DAY 2

Day 2: Leh to Shingra Koma (Drive to the Starting Point)

Morning: After breakfast, drive to Shingra Koma, the starting point of your trek. Trek Briefing: Your guide will give a detailed briefing on the trek, safety precautions, and essential guidelines to follow while trekking on ice. Overnight Stay: Set up camps at Shingra Koma and spend the night under the stars, enjoying the tranquility of the frozen river.

DAY 3

Day 3: Shingra Koma to Tsomo Paldar

Trek Begins: Start the trek from Shingra Koma to Tsomo Paldar, walking over the frozen Zanskar River. The trek will take you through narrow gorges, ice caves, and frozen waterfalls. The ice sheet may have cracks or water trickling beneath, adding a level of difficulty and excitement to the journey. Lunch: Stop for lunch at an idyllic spot along the way, surrounded by mountains and ice. Overnight Stay: Camp at Tsomo Paldar for the night.

DAY 4

Day 4: Tsomo Paldar to Tibb Cave

Morning: Continue trekking towards the Tibb Cave, a popular resting point on the Chadar trek. You Will walk across thick layers of ice, passing remote Zanskar villages like Gyalpo, where you can interact with the locals and understand their way of life. Lunch: Enjoy a packed lunch on the way to Tibb Cave. Overnight Stay: Camp at Tibb Cave, where you’ll be surrounded by spectacular icy landscapes.

DAY 5

Day 5: Tibb Cave to Nyerak

Morning: The trek continues towards Nyerak, a beautiful village surrounded by frozen waterfalls and stark mountains. Trekking on Ice: Cross sections of the Zanskar River where the ice may be uneven or thin in certain places, making the trek more adventurous. Overnight Stay: Set up camp near Nyerak Village for a night under the stars.

DAY 6

Day 6: Nyerak to Tibb Cave

Return Trek: Start your return journey towards Tibb Cave, retracing your steps across the frozen river. Lunch: Stop along the way for a packed lunch. Overnight Stay: Camp at Tibb Cave for the night.

DAY 7

Day 7: Tibb Cave to Shingra Koma

Final Trek: On the final day of the trek, walk back towards Shingra Koma. Drive Back to Leh: Once you reach Shingra Koma, drive back to Leh, where you can rest and recover after the challenging journey. Overnight Stay: Stay overnight in Leh.

DAY 8

Day 8: Departure from Leh

Departure: After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
